Overview

Understanding your invoice is important, and you may have questions about sales tax charges. Liquid Web collects taxes to comply with specific state and local laws. Find answers to your most common questions about how we calculate and apply taxes to your services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Certain state and local laws require Liquid Web to collect sales taxes on applicable products and services. In February of 2017,  Liquid Web began collecting taxes on its products/services in certain states in order to comply with these laws.

States that require Liquid Web to collect taxes also determine which products/services are taxable and will vary based on those state rules.

We calculate sales tax based on the primary service address listed in your account profile. The amount of taxes charged depends on several factors including any applicable state, county, and city taxes. County and city taxes may fluctuate between ZIP Codes.

Updating your Address Information
It is important to keep your address information current to ensure we apply the correct tax rates.

Yes. Taxing authorities at the state, county, and city levels can change their rates at any time. Liquid Web collects taxes in accordance with applicable laws, based on the new tax rate. Local governments set these tax rates and can change them without advance notice. For this reason, the tax amount on your invoice may change unexpectedly.

In certain areas, state and local laws require Liquid Web to collect additional applicable taxes.

If your organization is exempt from paying certain taxes, you can submit your tax exemption certificate to our Billing team. Please open a support case through your stg-lw-test.stellarwp.com account and attach a valid copy of your documentation. Once we verify the certificate, we will update your account to reflect your tax-exempt status for future invoices.

Taxes appear as a distinct line item on your invoice. This line item will show the total tax amount applied to the taxable services for that billing period.

U.S. taxes are determined by your location within the United States. If your service address is outside the U.S., you will not be charged U.S. taxes. However, you may be responsible for other taxes, such as a Value Added Tax (VAT), based on your country’s laws.
